July Competition Recap
True Believer team members were very busy this month representing GFTeam. With competitions in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pittsburgh, there were plenty of opportunities to compete and medals to win.
Chris Chaturvedi had a huge month. After winning his division at the New York BJJ Pro Championship hosted by the IBJJF, he followed up the next week with gold at the IBJJF Washington D.C. Summer International Open in the Master 1, male, blue-belt, feather-weight division.
Chris wasn’t alone on the podium in D.C., as Coach Aaron Hannan took third in a highly competitive purple-belt bracket. GFTeam placed third overall at the Washington D.C. Summer International Open with 108 total medals.
While some of our team members were in D.C., two members of the True Believer Tribe stayed in Pittsburgh to compete at the local Grappling Industries tournament. Taylor Stine finished his day with gold in his no-gi division and silver in his gi division, following great performances in a stacked round-robin bracket.
Dr. Ed Ellis battled his way through the same bracket, finishing second on the podium and putting True Believer at the top two spots. Congratulations to all of our team members who competed, and thank you to the entire tribe for helping them prepare. Here’s to a productive August!
